Spring 2014 : the Z boson

On the way to prepare Run 2 and maximize our sensitivity to new physics in 2015, next WU are Z decays... Why ?

The Z boson has a long story at CERN. Discovered in 1984 by the UA1 and UA2 experiments, studied in great detail for a decade at LEP, it is now what we call a "standard candle" : its properties are so well known that it will allow us to "calibrate" the ATLAS detector and check the level of systematic errors.
